Underrated is described as not being rated or appreciated highly enough. In spite of his brilliance on the field, Tarik Cooper has often been underappreciated during his career with the Texas Southern University football team. Whether it was at Texas City High School, Blinn College, or Texas Southern University, he worked relentlessly to not only master his craft but also to showcase why he is one of the top linebackers. Despite being nominated to the 2022 Preseason All-SWAC Football Team, he is striving for much more as he approaches his senior season. As TSU defense captain, he vows to lead one of the most ferocious defenses in the South Western Athletic Conference this season.
Tarik's 63 tackles and one sack last season was only scratching the surface of what he can do on the football field. TSU supporters started to worry about who would fill the void left by Julian Marcantel's departure from the linebacker room. But don't look any farther, Tarik Cooper is more than prepared to take on the role and produce at a high volume. The dynamic linebacker unquestionably received the keys to the defense from Defensive Coordinator Jeffery Caesar and Linebacker Coach Derrick Mathews. He is fully equipped to dominate this year and help return the SWAC Championship trophy to Houston, Texas. From his stature at 6'0" and 253 pounds to his vision, excellent tackling techniques, extensive knowledge, quickness, and amazing leadership he's more than ready to lead this defense. One thing about it he's going to have a great season while having fun doing it.
