Throughout the Tokyo Olympics, the women's Squad USA Basketball team demonstrated domination. The event was headlined by the best WNBA players, who all had their sights set on earning the gold medal regardless of who was in front of them. Observing this team on and off the court, it is clear that their success was due to how effectively they worked together. It was wonderful to see Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird on this squad because they've already won multiple gold medals in the Olympics, and to watch these GOATS still play at such a high level was incredible to witness.
To give you a sense of how good the United States women's basketball team has been over the years, they haven't lost an Olympic game since 1992. What makes this even more amazing is the fact that Head Coach Dawn Staley has a gold medal as both a WNBA player and a coach. This Olympic run demonstrated to me that the WNBA is overflowing with incredible talent. Many of the other countries that competed against the United States women's basketball team were undersized and couldn't match the firepower. From top to bottom, this team was unmatched and claimed the title of the best basketball team in the world.
