The Takeover

Despite the fact that the Houston Texans season did not meet expectations, there is always a positive to be found in every negative situation. The one bright spot for the Texans has been Jalen Pitre, who has been playing at an exceptional level throughout the season. The crazy part about this uber-talented athlete is he is only a rookie and the Texans have found their safety of the future. He has demonstrated during training camp, the preseason, and now the regular season that he possesses the IT factor and is prepared to make crucial plays to help this organization win games. If you were watching the Texans for the first time, you'd assume Jalen Pitre was a seasoned NFL player. He is only scratching the surface of his bright career, which is without a doubt, extremely promising.

Although he is just a rookie, his play style shows a lot of maturation and tenacity that the other members of the Texans defense feed off of. It is ironic that Jalen Pitre's game is heavily influenced by former Texan Tyrann Mathieu's. As a fan, you cannot help but smile since this young man is essentially a carbon copy of a phenomenal safety who has been successful in the NFL for many years. Jalen currently has 139 tackles, one sack, and five interceptions. This is absolutely mind-blowing to think about considering how week by week we saw his progression and what ultimately lies ahead. The Houston Texans will once again be at the top of the AFC South and competing for a postseason position if the correct players are chosen in this year's draft and free agency. If this season has taught Texans fans anything, it is that Jalen Pitre is the real deal and has a bright future ahead of him.
