The NEW TSU

The Texas Southern University football team is entering a new era, and the pieces are finally falling into place. Head Coach Clarence Mckinney has assembled several strong recruiting classes throughout his tenure at TSU. Those young players are developing and stepping up to provide the TSU community and Tiger fans with a football team that will win and is fun to watch. If you've had the opportunity to attend any practices this spring, you will notice two things: there is a family atmosphere and competitiveness is at an all-time high. Those two characteristics combine to form a fantastic team, and I can't wait for everyone to see this football team thrive. Last season, the TSU football team was standing at the doorstep of success and came within a whisker of winning the games that they lost. Using the experience from those games last season will be extremely beneficial this fall when they begin the new season.

This team is loaded with talent, and if you're a TSU Tiger fan, you should be overjoyed. With a dual-threat quarterback in Andrew Body and wide receivers Jyrin Johnson, Savion Sims, C'ing Blanton, Dylan Hamilton, and a bevy of others, the possibilities for this offense's success are limitless. When you add in a stable of outstanding running backs like Ladarius Owens, Jacorey Howard, Dominic Franklin, and Kevin Harris, it sounds like a nightmare for defenses. With Demontario Anderson and Tarik Cooper back for their senior seasons, as well as all of the young bright freshmen and sophomores we saw last season, we are in for a treat. If you haven't already jumped on the bandwagon, you might want to do so now because once everything falls into place, there will be no stopping them. If you don't believe me, come to Durely Stadium tonight at 6 p.m. and witness their spring game yourself.
