During this year's Olympics, there was a great deal of uncertainty around the team USA basketball. Many questioned if this team could win the gold medal without the star-studded lineup we were accustomed to seeing at the Olympics. Without superstar NBA players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and others, the obligation of bringing home gold fell on Kevin Durant and he was up to the challenge.
Following exhibition losses to Nigeria and Australia, Team USA basketball fans started to wonder if the team could win it all in Tokyo. People have to understand that throughout these losses, they were ironing out the problems. Kevin Durant was the undisputed leader of this year's Olympic squad, and he did not disappoint. He gave everything he had on both ends of the court and played great. Kevin was literally on fire from the playoffs through the Olympics, and nothing could stop or control him.
When the lights were brightest, this squad gave it their all, and game after game, they proved the naysayers wrong. This Olympic squad embodied the phrase, "It's not how you start, but how you finish." Another Olympics has passed, and the Team USA basketball team has once again demonstrated that they are the greatest in the world, and they are not relinquishing that title anytime soon.
