As basketball fans, we are always debating who the greatest NBA players of all time. People mention Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabaar, Bill Rusell, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlin, and many others. Unfortunately, as a 24-year-old, I did not have the opportunity to watch any of the great NBA players before my time.LeBron James has a strong argument to be considered one of the NBA's all-time greats. As a sports fan, I'm thrilled to have the ability to witness LeBron James' career from start to finish.
Getting drafted by his hometown team the Cleveland Cavilers in 2003, The Decision, winning two championships in Miami, and fulfilling his dream of bringing the Cavs a championship in 2016. LeBron James has had a fairytale career, but it wasn't always that way. Ever since high school, he's had his fair share of critics. "I welcome criticism because it makes you stronger," LeBron once stated, and when the media and fans began to criticize him, he used it as inspiration to play at a greater level. LeBron James' playing career is similar to a good novel because it gets better and better as you progress to the next chapter. The historic 3-1 comeback in the 2016 NBA Finals was a moment that hushed the doubters for days. When his back was against the wall and most people felt the Golden State Warriors had the championship locked up, LeBron stepped up his game to give us a Finals to remember.
LeBron James' off-court activities have been equally as outstanding, if not better, than his on-court performances. From founding the I Promise School for at-risk children in Akron, Ohio, to contributing $2.5 million from the "Decision" to the Boys and Girls Club. Lebron has given back in such a manner that we have never seen before. Fans might dispute where LeBron James ranks among the NBA's all-time greats, but his resume speaks for itself, and it continues to enhance as he continues to play at a high level at the age of 36.
