From memes to speculation, several people have attempted to construct their own explanation as to why Antonio Brown abruptly removed his football equipment and exited the game against the New York Jets on Sunday. I could have easily written an article criticizing Antonio Brown for this heinous conduct, but there are always two sides to every story. One of the theories seemed to be that Antonio Brown would not return to the game since he wasn't thrown the ball enough to earn his $1 million incentive. However, all of that was put to rest when Ian Rapoport reported that Antiono Brown didn't feel his ankle was 100 percent, so he elected not to play. The Tampa Bay coaches responded by saying, "If you're not going in when we tell you, you're not going to play here." I'm not suggesting Antiono's departure from the game on Sunday afternoon was correct, but as a football player, no one understands your body like you do, and the Tampa Bay coaches' reaction would irritate anyone.
Antonio Brown's 12-year football career has been filled with highs and lows, but he has persevered. Every football player dreams of being a Super Bowl champion, and Antonio Brown's dream came true last season. He was arguably one of the top wide receivers in the NFL when he was on the field. He's had to take time away from the game he loves due to a slew of off-field issues. Unfortunately, Antonio's shocking exit on Sunday afternoon could have been his final game in the NFL.
