Before the season began, many people expected and knew for certain that the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets would meet in the NBA Finals. This was a season unlike any other, as numerous NBA stars were injured before or during the playoffs. The Lakers and Nets both suffered from the injury bug and we’re forced to watch from the sidelines.
Championships are highly valued in today's sports. Over the course of a few seasons, we've seen multiple superstar players swap teams in order to improve their chances of winning a title. Giannis Antetokounmpo won the title by fully committing to the Milwaukee Bucks and weathering the storm until he got his chance at winning an NBA championship. Of course, there were many ups and downs, but he remained strong and endured through all of the difficult times. His hard work, sweat, and tears were rewarded when he finally won the championship last night. Many people thought he couldn't make the NBA Finals, let alone win it without a reliable jump shot, but we were all wrong.
This Milwaukee Bucks club was a tight-knit group with a family feel. Throughout the playoffs, you've seen plenty of interactions between Bucks teammates, and one thing is for certain: they have each other's back. In the playoffs, we talk about home-court advantage. Bucks fans passionately backed their team, which eventually provided the players an extra push when they played home games during the playoffs. Nobody and I mean nobody, should take anything away from this squad winning the title. Whether your team was afflicted with the injury bug or was eliminated from the playoffs, you must recognize that the Bucks went through the same exact things that the other 29 teams did, but it was simply their time and they capitalized.
