Public Enemy #1

Bill O'Brien is unquestionably public enemy number one in Houston sports. From disassembling a franchise that had a legitimate shot at making the Super Bowl if the cards fell precisely perfectly. From the epic meltdown in the AFC divisional round against the Kansas City Chiefs to the trading of one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in Deandre Hopkins, things were clearly spiraling out of control. For lack of a better word, this was a dictatorship in which Bill grew power until the Texans had no choice but to fire him.

Rumors have circulated that Bill O'Brien sought to get fired in order to become the New England Patriots offensive coordinator and, eventually succeed Bill Bellick when he departs. If the reports are accurate, he never put his heart and soul into this franchise. You could tell by the choices he made as general manager that he didn't care about the Houston Texans' future. As a Texans fan, you can only smile thinking about what the future would hold with a core of Deshaun Watson, JJ Watt, and Deandre Hopkins. Bill, on the other hand, tore apart the core piece by piece, producing uncertainty, disfunction, and hysteria. Hate is a strong word, but after watching his coaching style, how he treated the media and his role in breaking up a solid team, there is no way you can admire this man if you are a Houston Texans fan.
