Coach JC Carter has been coaching and mentoring defensive linemen for over a decade. Coach Carter once walked in the same shoes as the athletes he mentors today. As a result, he knows precisely what it takes to succeed as a defensive lineman. He has accumulated a plethora of information from his time as a former football player at Grambling State University, which he continually bestows to his athletes. Coach Carter constantly stresses power, strength, quickness, agility, and reaction seeing as if you can master those fundamental components, you will be successful at any level you play at. His resume virtually speaks for itself as Texas Southern University has had some of the top pass rushers in the South Western Athletic Conference this season. Coach Carter's expertise has aided players like Demontario Anderson, Michael Akins, Viramontes Pippen, Gabe Smith, and many more. One of the primary points made by Head Coach McKinney during the offseason was that the defense needed to produce more turnovers so that the offense could function stress-free. Coach Carter and this defensive front heard Coach McKinney loud and clear, and as a result, they are presently leading the SWAC in interceptions. There is no doubt about it that Coach Carter has mastered his craft and changing lives with the knowledge he has learned along the way.
