Head Coach Johnny Jones has had a significant influence on the Texas Southern University basketball program since his arrival in 2018. With several wins over Power 5 schools throughout the regular season and a lock for SWAC title and an NCAA tournament berth, the TSU program is one to watch every season. There is no doubt that his players love playing for him and give their all on the court to demonstrate the game plan that he has been preaching day in and day out. Having coached at LSU, Alabama, Memphis, Nevada, and North Texas has provided him with a wealth of knowledge that has aided him in a variety of ways. He knows all there is to know about college basketball, not just through his extensive coaching career, but also from his time as a player at LSU from 1980 to 1984.

Recently Johnny Jones received a contract extension that will keep him Tiger till the 2026 season. Texas Southern University is without a doubt home from Johnny and I know for fact TSU fans are extremely excited to keep their coach. The TSU basketball squad will be without major players such as Justin Hopkins, John Jones, Bryson Etienne, Yahuza Rasas, Joirdon Nicholas, John Walker III, and a slew of other outstanding players that we have grew accustomed to watching. However, Johnny will develop a new qqcrop of athletes who will excel on the floor this winter. They'll be back to winning the SWAC title and a chance to play in the NCAA tournament in no time. I'm a huge believer in giving someone flowers when they deserve them, and Head Coach Johnny Jones deserves flowers for all the sleepless nights, studying, game planning, and hard work he has put in over the years.
