Get Ready

The Texas Southern Football team has had several excellent defensive ends, including Michael Badejo and Demontario Anderson. However, the baton has now been handed off to the great Michael Akins, who is prepared to lead this TSU defense. Last season, Michael almost constantly found himself in the backfield to cause trouble or make significant plays. What else can you say? The man enjoys competition and the excitement of annihilating his opponent. He strives to improve every day, which accounts for his unwavering drive, tenacity, and skill set.

His 39 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and three sacks last season serve only to illustrate his potent abilities. It is imperative to emphasize that he accomplished all of this during his freshman season, so imagine what he can accomplish next season after fine-tuning his weaknesses and enhancing his strengths. After coming so close to winning the SWAC West last season, the TSU football team had a bitter taste in their mouths. Knowing that Michael Akins, the competitor, is experiencing disappointment just feeds the fire of the player who wants to add some hardware to his trophy case. Having a better understanding of the system, we may be able to see Michael Akins at his greatest level as he leads the defensive front next season. Last season, the Texas Southern football team exceeded many projections, and the future looks bright for the whole program including star defensive end Michael Akins.
