Earned Not Given

The Texas Southern University football team is undoubtedly on its way to being one of the best teams in the South Western Athletic Conference this fall. Most SWAC teams benefited from the transfer portal last season, as the incoming athletes were already polished and poised to jump right in and make an impact. TSU, on the other hand, chose a different approach, playing a large number of freshmen on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. There is no better way to gain experience than to actually play in the game, and sophomore cornerback Perry Wells gained so much from last season's ups and downs. If you look over Perry's football career, you will notice that he is a very hard worker who strives to be the best version of himself.

Some people may underestimate Perry due to his height, however he has a huge heart, and that is something you cannot teach. He plays every game with a chip on his shoulder and a skill set that cannot be matched. From North Shore High School, McMurray University, and now Texas Southern University nothing was given to this amazing football player and he earned everything he has now. To give you an idea of how amazing he is, he didn't allow any touchdowns last season. For casual fans, this is like attempting to prevent a starving person from eating, which is nearly impossible. The TSU football team may have one of the best and underrated cornerback rooms in the SWAC, with Jacorey Benjamn, Isaiah Hamilton, Perry Wells, and a slew of others. TSU fans can anticipate big things this fall. I pray Perry accomplishes greatness this fall and continues to play at a high level.
